About
Nobody has recorded when the Chhaygaon zamindar family was founded, or by whom. What is remembered is that several well-known leaders of the struggle against British rule and for India's independence came from this house, and because of them the British government kept an army camp here from 1930 to 1934.
The house is a handsome two-storey building, and unlike many zamindar houses in the region it still stands in fairly good condition. The district also lists the home of Bahadur Khalilur Rahman Sikdar at Chhaygaon among its places to visit. Come in the dry months, when the village roads of Bhedarganj are easy.
Getting there: By bus from Shariatpur to Bhedarganj upazila, then a rickshaw or auto to Chhaygaon union.
Things to do
