About

Ramsagar lies at Tajpur, south of Dinajpur town. The long straight water is ringed by high banks planted with trees, with lawns, picnic spots, a small deer enclosure and the remains of an old sandstone ghat on the west side. A small temple stands near the bank.

It is the town's favourite outing, so weekends and holidays are busy. Come early on a winter morning for mist on the water and birds along the banks.

Getting there: By auto or CNG from the town, about 20 minutes south.

Things to do

  • Walk the full bank, about an hour.

Good to know

  • Weekday mornings are quiet; holidays are crowded.
