About
The estate is old; tradition credits its founding to Dinraj Ghosh, from whom some say the district takes its name. What stands now is mostly later work: an arched gateway, the shell of the main palace, the Rani Mahal and temples still in use, inside a compound with ponds.
Much of it is ruined and overgrown, which is part of its pull. Go in daylight, watch your step around the broken buildings, and respect the temples, where worship continues.
Getting there: An auto from the town centre, about 10 minutes.
Things to do
- See the gateway and the temples still in worship.
Good to know
- Parts are unsafe; keep out of roofless rooms.
