About
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park, as it is officially named, covers about 900 hectares of the Dulahazara reserve forest on the Chattogram–Cox's Bazar highway. Walkways and a bus run past big fenced ranges for Bengal tigers, lions, elephants, crocodiles, hippos, bears and several deer species, with an aviary and a lake. It is the place to take children in the district, and on holidays it is packed.
The surrounding forest is real: Asian elephants still move through Chakaria, and the park is part of an elephant corridor.
Getting there: Any Chattogram-bound bus from town drops you at Dulahazara, about 1.5 hours; CNG from Chakaria.
Things to do
- Take the safari bus for the tiger and lion ranges.
Good to know
- Avoid public holidays; weekday mornings are calm.
