About
The mosque was built in 1719 by Bibi Zainab, wife of Dewan Sharif Khan, who held the revenue rights of this pargana in the early eighteenth century; the area was then called Sharifpur after him. A Persian verse over the entrance records its building, and the couple lie in a double tomb next to it.
The 1897 earthquake cracked the roof and destroyed the dewan's office nearby. The mosque has been repaired several times since and is still in daily use, a compact prayer hall under three domes.
Getting there: West of Narsingdi town in Palash upazila; a CNG from Narsingdi takes you to Parulia village.
Things to do
- Read the Persian inscription over the door and visit the founders' tomb beside the mosque.
Good to know
- A working mosque: dress modestly and avoid prayer times.
