About

The oath was taken at Baidyanathtala, on the border, and the place was named Mujibnagar. The memorial, designed by Tanvir Karim, was begun in 1987; its 23 rising walls stand for the years of struggle before independence.

A larger complex was added from 1996: sculptures re-creating the oath and scenes of the war, a relief map of the sectors, and the old mango grove itself, where many trees still stand.

Getting there: Bus or CNG from Meherpur town, about 18 km.
