About
Bhatpara was one of the indigo factories the British planters built across the district, on the same river as Amjhupi further south. Local memory links its rooms with the harsh treatment of indigo farmers.
Unlike Amjhupi it has not been restored: broken walls, arches and the ruin of a church stand among trees. It suits visitors who like quiet ruins.
Getting there: Bus to Gangni from Meherpur town, then a local ride to Bhatpara.
Things to do
- Find the remains of the church beside the house.
Good to know
- The walls are fragile; do not climb them.
