About
In the heart of Mymensingh, beside the Circuit House field, this park runs along the bank of the Old Brahmaputra, and it is where the town comes to spend an afternoon. Thousands of people visit every day, and on holidays the crowds come from all over the division.
It is a fairground as much as a garden: fountains, swings, a toy train, the "magic boat", a merry-go-round and other rides, a small zoo, horse carriages, the Baishakhi stage and a row of food stalls. Boatmen wait on the bank to take you out on the river.
The Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala stands inside the park, so you can see the painter's work and then walk by the river he drew as a boy.
Getting there: In the town centre on the river, beside the Circuit House; about half an hour by rickshaw from the Shambhuganj bridge.
Things to do
- Take a boat out on the Brahmaputra.
- Walk the riverbank at sunset.
- See the museum inside the park.
Good to know
- Holidays and Fridays are the busiest; come on a weekday for a quiet walk.
