About

The Sundarbans is a tidal forest of rivers and creeks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home of the Bengal tiger, spotted deer, crocodiles and many birds. Most visitors go on packaged boat trips of two or three nights that leave from Khulna and stop at forest stations.

Every entry needs a Forest Department permit and an armed guard; tour operators arrange both. Hiron Point, on the coast, is a wildlife sanctuary station.

Getting there: Tour boats leave from Khulna city ghats.

Things to do

  • Watch for deer and birds from the boat at dawn.

Good to know

  • Go with a registered operator; never enter without a permit.
