About

In the nineteenth century European planters forced indigo on farmers across Bengal, and their factories and houses, called nilkuthi, were hated places. The one at Auliapur is now a ruin of brick walls overgrown with plants.

It is a short trip from Madaripur town for anyone curious about that history.

Getting there: Easy-bike from Madaripur town to Auliapur.

Things to do

  • Look for the remaining walls among the trees.

Good to know

  • Wear proper shoes; the ground is uneven and overgrown.
